Colorado Springs, CO- Five Brookdale Community College student-athletes have earned academic honors, as announced by the NJCAA this afternoon. A three-tiered honor system, to earn the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement, a student athlete must have earned a GPA between 3.80 – 3.99 and the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement requires a GPA between 3.6 and 3.79 and the NJCAA Pinnacle award requires a 4.0. For all honors, at least 45 credit hours must have been completed.
Orlando, FL- Sophomores Bobbie Boehler (softball) and Maclane Smoke (men’s tennis) have been named the male and female NATYCAA scholar-athlete of the year. This marks the first time in the award's 22-year history that one college has swept the male and female award.
Colorado Springs, CO- Brookdale Community College freshman Sara Vocisano earned the 2014 NJCAA Softball Marucci Elite Hitter award. The award is presented to the All-America nominee from each district with the highest batting average. Vocisano had an overall batting average of .490 for the season. She tallied 72 hits, smashing 17 doubles, 3 triples, and a home run. She also drove in 34 RBI's for the Jersey Blues.
Lincroft, NJ- Brookdale Community College sophomore center fielder Cassidy Brzozowski was named National Player of the Year for NJCAA Division III Softball. Brzozowksi also earned a spot on the first All-American team. Sophomore pitchers Samantha Hosey and Krystal Pearson join Brzozowski on the All-American first team.
Rochester, MN- The Brookdale softball team grabbed third place at the NJCAA Division III Women's Softball National Tournament. The Blues fell to the Generals of Herkimer College, 10-0, in a season ending match-up. Sophomore center fielder Cassidy Brzozowski was named outstanding defensive player of the tournament.
Rochester, MN- The Brookdale softball team fell to the Golden Eagles of Rock Valley College, 2-1. Sophomore third baseman Erin Lockwood knocked in the Blues only run. Freshman outfielders Courtney Semkewyc and Sara Vocisano went 1-3 from the plate.
Rochester, MN- After a brief rain delay, the Brookdale softball team took an early lead against the Pioneers of Anne Arundel Community College. The Blues downed the Pioneers, 4-0 in the first round of the NJCAA Division III Women's Softball National Championship Tournament. Sophomore pitcher Krystal Pearson threw for the win, striking out 11 batters and giving up only 1 hit.
Rochester, MN- The Brookdale softball team defeated Monroe Community College, 2-1, in ten innings. Sophomore pitcher Samantha Hosey threw the complete game with 3 strikeouts and 1 earned run. In the bottom of the tenth, sophomore second baseman Keara Homan suicide squeezed for sophomore second baseman Bobbie Boehler who scored the winning run.
Rochester, MN- The Brookdale softball team grabbed the number one- seed for the National Softball Tournament in Rochester, MN. The Jersey Blues will face the number eight-seeded Pioneers of Anne Arundel Community College on Thursday, May 15th at 10:00am.
On the heels of an MVP-worthy performance by Samantha Hosey, the Brookdale Community College softball team won its second consecutive Region XIX title with a 12-1 win over Gloucester County College.
The Brookdale Community College softball team advances to the Region XIX Championship with wins over Ocean Count College (4-1) and Gloucester County College (1-0), on the opening day of the Region XIX softball tournament, hosted by Middlesex County College.
Lincroft, NJ- Brookdale Community College sophomore pitcher Samantha Hosey was named Region XIX Player of the Year. Hosey was also named as a first team All-Region and All-GSAC honoree. Sophomore short stop Bobbie Boehler, freshman outfielder Sara Vocisano, sophomore catcher Stephanie Grainger and sophomore center fielder Cassidy Brzozowski join Hosey on the All-Region first team.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale softball team split with Mercer County Community College in today's doubleheader. In game one, the Blues downed the Vikings, 4-1. Sophomore Samantha Hosey pitched for the win. She tallied 3 strikeouts and 6 scattered hits. Freshman outfielder Courtney Semkewyc and sophomore Krystal Pearson knocked out a solo home run apiece while freshman outfielder Sara Vocisano ripped an RBI double.
Randolph, NJ- The Brookdale softball team split with the County College of Morris, 9-1, and 4-10. In game one, sophomore pitcher Samantha Hosey threw for the win, striking out 6 batters. Freshman outfielder Sara Vocisano tallied a double, triple, 2 singles and 4 RBI's. Sophomore catcher Stephanie Grainger went 3-3 with 2 doubles, a single, and 3 runs scored.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale softball team celebrated the seven sophomores during today's doubleheader against Bergen Community College. Outfielder Cassidy Brzozowski, pitchers Samantha Hosey and Krystal Pearson, second baseman Keara Homan, short stop Bobbie Boehler, third baseman Erin Lockwood and catcher Stephanie Grainger will be moving on after this year.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale softball team downed the Bulldogs of Bergen Community College, 7-0 and 18-1. In game one, sophomore third baseman Krystal Pearson smashed a 2-run homer. Sophomore outfielder Cassidy Brzozowski had 3 hits and 2 RBI's while sophomore second baseman Keara Homan went 3-4 at the plate. Sophomore pitcher Samantha Hosey threw a 1-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
