What is a Jersey Blue?

Formed in Piscataway in 1673, the Jersey Blues is the oldest uniformed military militia organization in point of continuous service on the western continents.

During the Revolutionary War they became part of the Continental Army and were instrumental in the defeat of the British during the Battle of Monmouth…hence their association with Brookdale - The County College of Monmouth.

The regiment now lives on as a National Guard unit in New Jersey, and as the name and mascot of Brookdale’s Athletic Teams.
