Mike Tursi Becomes First Ever Cross Country Region XIX Coach Of The Year

Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale Head Coach, Mike Tursi, has been named the 2021 Region XIX Cross Country Coach of the Year. Tursi is the first Brookdale cross country coach to achieve this prestigious accolade. 

Coach Mike Tursi was hired as the head coach of the men's and women's cross-country teams in June of 2019. Since the hire, Tursi made great strides to progress the program, even through a distressed, altered, spring COVID 19 2020 season. On October 30th, 2021, the perseverance paid off as his runners all ran personal bests to capture Brookdale's first regional championship in men's cross country; only the second in school history since 1982.

First place runner, freshman, Theodore Purdon, was also named to the All-Region team for his race time, and is Brookdale's second individual Region XIX champion in 39 years.
