Cross Country Posts Top Times At Delaware Invitational
Newark, DE - The men's and women's cross country teams traveled out of state for the first time this season to participate in the Delaware Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE.
Newark, DE - The men's and women's cross country teams traveled out of state for the first time this season to participate in the Delaware Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE.
This meet was crucial for both teams since the region championship will be held at this same course in just a couple of weeks (October 30th). On a very hilly course, both the men and the women ran some very respectable times and both teams held their own against a field of Division II and III four-year programs. The men's team placed 5th overall in the meet and were the top scoring junior college team.
In the wome's 6K race, freshman, Kristen Daly, placed 44th in a time of 34:12; one of her best times this season.
The men's team was once again led by freshman, Theodore Purdon, who placed 3rd overall on a very tough and challenging 8K course in a time of 28:12. He was followed by freshman, Joshua Seba, who ran a strong race, placing 31st in a time of 31:29. Next across the line was freshman, Connor Scott, who ran a nice time of 32:17, and placed 37th.
Sophomore, William Broadhurst, placed 39th in a time of 32:26. He was followed by freshman, Michael Puzo, who ran 33:00 placing 41st overall. Freshman Joshua Beer charted 44th in 33:11, and sophomore, Maksim Popov, crossed 54th in 35:01 for the Jersey Blues.
Brookdale's next meet will be on Saturday, October 16th, the Border Battle at Dream Park, Logan Twp, N.J., hosted by Rowan University.
