Each student-athlete participated in the "Lug-A-Jug" brigade, which meant walking five miles carrying one gallon of water. Carrying the additional eight pounds symbolized solidarity with the millions of people around the world who travel great distances to get the basic necessities to survive. In addition to walking, the teams also collected canned goods and donated them to local food pantries.
These service projects, supported by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is one of many initiatives the athletic department will take part in throughout the academic year.
