Philadelphia, PA - The Brookdale Jersey Blues women's cross country team experienced one of the most grueling courses on the east coast last Saturday. The Belmont Plateau in Philly's Fairmount Park was a tough one, yet their season debut was incredibly successful.
The team was led by freshman, Georgia Jones (Matawan Regional High School), who tackled the 5K course in a time of 22:11 for 10th place overall. Jones was the top finisher among all junior college women, and was the first Brookdale woman to medal in this race for years. Rounding out the women's team was sophomore captain, Brooke Meberg (Ocean Township High School), who finished in 29th place with a 24:48 time. Meberg saw a 16 second improvement from last years' Philadelphia Metro Invitational.
The Brookdale Women will be headed to Galloway, NJ next Saturday, September 14th, for the Osprey Open at Stockton University beginning at 10:30am.
