Edison, NJ - Brookdale volleyball swept through their season opener against the Middlesex College Blue Colts with a 3-0 win and scores of, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16.
Debuting as a setter for the Blues, freshman Denise Gonzalez-Cruz, had an impressive outing of 20 assists and six digs. Freshman Aubree Gergich played Huge with eight kills and three blocks out of the middle. Sophomore Rebecca Arleth was all over the floor defensively with 15 digs, five assists, and three aces. Coach O'Krepki earned his first win as a Jersey Blues coach and said, "I think our team had a really well-rounded performance, and really just played better and better as the match went on."
The Blues(1-0) will be hosting their next, and first home match, on Thursday, September 9th, at 6:00pm, against the Union College Owls.
