Jersey Blues Take First Win In Program History Over Ocean Vikings In Five Sets
Lincroft, NJ - For the first time in program history, the Jersey Blues women's volleyball team outlasted the Vikings of Ocean County College, 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13).
Lincroft, NJ - For the first time in program history, the Jersey Blues women's volleyball team outlasted the Vikings of Ocean County College, 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13).
Brookdale prevailed in five sets. It was an exciting game filled with pivotal contributions from the entire team. Many Jersey Blues' tallied career high stats. In the fifth and final set, fought point by point, sophomore outside hitter Jessenia Acevedo closed out the match with a strategic kill.
Sophomore outside hitter Katie O'Neill totaled 20 kills, six aces, and 14 digs. Sophomore setter Ciarah Minnig dished a career high 37 assists and posted two kills and three aces while sophomore right side hitter Emily Schulte notched 12 kills and three blocks. Sophomore libero Samarie Hernandez contributed 15 digs and eight aces as freshman defensive specialist Teizlin Larrua was flawless with 15 digs. Freshman middle hitter Carolyn Hazard added nine kills, one ace, and one block.
With the history making win, the Blues improve to 9-6 and will next travel to Harrisburg Area Community College for a tri-match with Lehigh Carbon Community College on Saturday, October 19th beginning at 12pm.
