Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale women's volleyball team topped the Mustangs of Montgomery County Community College, 3-2 (25-12,22-25,25-23,20-25,15-7).
The Blues took the first set quickly and battled through the next four. After pressuring the service line, the team totaled 27 aces in the match-up. Sophomore outside hitter Katie O'Neill highlighted Brookdale's offense with 12 kills, one assist, 10 aces and 18 digs. Sophomore right side hitter Emily Schulte connected for 14 kills, one ace and six digs while freshman middle hitter Carolyn Hazard added 10 kills, two digs.
Sophomore libero Samarie Hernandez contributed three assists, eight aces and 16 digs as sophomore setter Ciarah Minnig posted two kills, 21 assists and five aces.
With the win, Brookdale improves to 5-2. The team will next take on the Owls of Union County College in a Region XIX match-up on Tuesday, September 24th at 7pm.
