Toms River, NJ - Despite grand efforts and some intense rallies, the Jersey Blues women's volleyball team fell to the Vikings of Ocean County College, 3-1 (18-25, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25).

The team struggled from the service line as Ocean's intense defense picked up most of Brookdale's attacks. Freshman middle hitter Carolyn Hazard topped the Blues offense with 12 kills, one ace and nine blocks. Sophomore right side hitter Emily Schulte contributed nine kills and six blocks while sophomore outside hitter Katie O'Neill posted 11 kills, one ace and 16 digs. 

Sophomore setter Ciarah Minnig rounded out the team's offense with three kills, 19 assists, three aces and two blocks. Sophomore libero Samarie Hernandez added 4 aces and 20 digs. 

Brookdale will return home to take on the Blue Colts of Middlesex County College on Wednesday, September 18th at 7pm.
