Columbia, MD - In the first of a two-game weekend stay in Maryland, the Jersey Blues women's soccer team scored their third goals of the season, but took a 4-2 loss against the DII Dragons of Howard Community College.
Brookdale played a defensive game, but took advantage of the few opportunities presented to them offensively. Namely, in the 74th minute, sophomore midfielder, Lianna Quezada, placed a beautiful free kick from the top of the 18. For Brookdale's second goal, sophomore midfielder, Paige Coulahan, received a nice through-ball assist from freshman forward, Rori McDonough, in the 86th minute. Coulahan powered a dribble breakaway past two defenders and then flicked the ball over the goalies head. Sophomore All-American goalie, Emma Bennett, posted 26 saves on the day.
Brookdale (1-1) remains in Maryland to play another DII team, the CCBC Essex Knights, on Sunday, September 11th at 1:00pm.
