Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale alumni, dual women's soccer National Champion, and Army National Guardswoman, Simone McEnough, relays her journey in a recent edition of the colleges, "Souls of Brookdale." After graduating from Neptune High School, McEnough, a 2-year player in both 2013 and 2015, earning multiple honors, was more than capable of achieving success in her time at Brookdale.
In McEnough's two years as a Jersey Blue, she appeared in 39 games, blasted 24 goals, and dished 19 assists while earning her way to two of the three consecutive National Championships in women's soccer history. In addition, McEnough secured accolades such as, NJCAA 2nd Team All-America, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-GSAC, and 2015 Offensive Player of the National Tournament, after heading in the go-ahead lone goal following 75 scoreless minutes.
The following article is Simone's, "Souls of Brookdale," feature story:
"Brookdale was only the beginning for me. It has opened up so many opportunities.I was in the Army National Guard for 8 years. When I came back from my deployment, I had to adjust to college mode. Being part of the soccer team motivated me to figure out a way to balance both. Being able to come out of my shell during my first year back was Coach Katie's objective from day one. She always said I was soft spoken but when it came time to play, she could always count on me to give it my all. After Brookdale, I got my bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Bloomfield College and was the captain of the soccer team for two years. I still find a way to keep soccer in my schedule because it's such a stress reliever. My journey is a reminder that we all have talents inside of us that we take for granted but if we believe in ourselves we can accomplish anything!" #SoulsOfBrookdale
