Dryden, NY - The Jersey Blues women finished their tremendous season by placing not only third in the nation, but receiving the humbling Sportsmanship Award by the National Tournament Committee.
In the final four of the NJCAA National Tournament on a very cold afternoon, the Brookdale women took the field aggressively in the first half of play, but needed to quickly adjust to the swarm of the one on one Brookhaven Bears defense. Brookhaven had a long and deep roster and didn't leave much breathing room for the Jersey Blues as they only had three shots on goal while Brookhaven scored three unanswered goals in the first half. The mighty defense and big feet of the Jersey Blues allowed for a scoreless second half from the number one ranked Brookhaven, as the Blues held their own with a final 3-0 score.
Most notably, The National Tournament Committee voted to award the Brookdale Jersey Blues the Sportsmanship Award. In addition, two players, sophomore forward Jenna Karabin and freshman defender Emily Clayton made the National All-Tournament team.
