Head Coach Katie Miller Named Coach Of The Year By The National Soccer Coaches Association Of America
Kansas City, MO- Brookdale Community College head women's soccer coach Katie Miller was named Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Miller was also named Regional Coach of the Year by the NSCAA for the third season in a row.
Kansas City, MO- Brookdale Community College head women's soccer coach Katie Miller was named Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association Of America (NSCAA). Miller was also named Regional Coach of the Year by the NSCAA and NJCAA Coach of the Tournament for the third consecutive year.
In just her fifth year, Miller guided her 2015 women's soccer squad to a 19-1 record and the programs third consecutive NJCAA Division III National Championship. Under Miller's tutelage, she helped produce two NSCAA All-Americans, four NJCAA All-Americans, six All-Region players and five All-Conference players.
Coach Miller is also active in the community, offering camps and clinics to local youth teams. Her soccer team also participated in Monmouth County's Project Backpack, donating backpacks and school supplies to local children as well as coordinated a clinic for the Red Bank Recreational soccer program.
In her five years at the helm, Miller has four Garden State Athletic Conference titles, three Region XIX titles and three NJCAA Division III national titles notched on her belt.
To qualify for consideration, a coach must be an individual NSCAA member as well as have a successful record for that season. In addition, the coach should exhibit:
- Knowledge of the game (rules, systems, coaching philosophy)
- Rapport with the team (respect of the players)
- Team image (team conduct, style of play, performance)
- Conduct on the field (positive behavior)
- Work for coaches organization (meetings, committees)
- Outside involvement (clinics, camps, conventions)
- Community involvement (leagues, banquets)
- Rapport with other coaches (cooperative, considerate)
- Rapport with officials
- Relationship with media (cooperative, considerate)
- Service to the NSCAA
