Lincroft, NJ- Defense was the key for the Jersey Blues in their defeat over the Dukes of Cumberland County College in the quarter-finals of the Region XIX tournament, 57-53. Freshman guard Michelle Montefinese posted 10 crucial points in the second half to keep Brookdale ahead.
Brookdale was led in scoring by freshman guard Brianne Allender. Allender double-doubled, grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds and swishing 19 points.
With the win, the team advances to the semi-final round on Saturday, February 27 to face the top-seeded Blue Colts of Middlesex County College beginning at noon at Northampton Community College.
