Lincroft, NJ - In brisk weather conditions, the Jersey Blues softball team shut down the Monroe University Express in their double header, 24-1, 16-2.
Freshman second baseman, Mya Bonilla, batted 4-for-5 with a triple for three RBI's, to lead Brookdale in the 24-1 win. Sophomore shortstop, Jillian Fay, who is currently averaging .510 at the plate, hit 3-for-5 and cranked out two doubles for two RBI's, freshman pitcher, Jules Hart, hit 3-for-5 as well with a double for two RBI's, and sophomore catcher, Jessica Fay, added two RBI's in her 2-for-4 at bats. Freshman left fielder, Carmela Esposito, went 3-for-4 for an RBI, and Jules Hart earned her 10th win of the season as she pitched 5.0 innings with nine strikeouts.
In game-two, Jessica Fay, hit for her 4th RBI on the day in her 2-for-4 at bats. All with an RBI a piece were, sophomore third baseman, Jamie Vigil, sophomore first baseman, Audra Lowe, freshman right fielder, Charlee Doherty, and freshman pitcher, Jadeyn Pavlik. Pavlik (10-2)won it in the circle for the Blues in 5.0 innings with five strikeouts.
Brookdale (19-5) will travel to challenge the DII Mercer County Community College Vikings on Sunday, April 13th, with a 12:00pm start.
