Jersey Blues Softball Splits In Region Tournament To Finish In 2nd Place
Sewell, NJ - The Brookdale Jersey Blues softball team was fired up and ready for day-two of the Region 19 Championship Tournament as they conquered the first game of the day against the Middlesex College Blue Colts, 4-1. The Blues got off to a running start in game-two against the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners but just couldn't keep the momentum going in their unfortunate 13-1 loss. Brookdale became the second place finishers in the Tournament, but are still alive for the at-large bid to the NJCAA DIII World Series in Chattanooga, TN, next week

In the 4-1 Middlesex win, freshman catcher, Jessica Fay, was a solid contributor for the Blues. Fay hit 2-for-4 for two RBI's. Adding an RBI a piece was sophomore second baseman, Abby Kisseberth and freshman first baseman, Audra Lowe. Sophomore pitcher, Mallory Shevlin (16-10) was all business in the circle for 7.0 innings, striking out seven, allowing just three hits and zero earned runs.
The Jersey Blues (18-17) made five crucial errors and struggled at the plate in the game-two, 13-1 loss. The sole RBI was produced by Mallory Shevlin from her 1-for-3 at bats as Audra Lowe hit 2-for-3 with a triple in her best efforts.
