Scranton, PA - The Jersey Blues trapped and secured the DII Lackawanna College Falcons in a pair of sweet victories on their home softball field with scores of 4-2 and 9-8.
Sophomore star pitcher, Mallory Shevlin, continued her run of strikeouts as she successfully reached her 300th Brookdale strikeout with an outstanding performance at the plate as well. In the first game, 4-2 win, Shevlin threw for 7.0 innings (faced 29 batters) including 11 strikeouts and just one walk. In the batters box, Mallory and freshman catcher, Jessica Fay, both hit 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore second baseman. Abby Kisseberth, plastered a double RBI, and freshman center fielder, Jillian Fay, went 2-for-4, including a double and a triple.
Game-two was a straight-up battle. Shevlin (10-6) took to the circle again for another 7.0 innings, striking out four and walking one. On offense, she produced big time by hammering a double in her 2-for-3 at bats for her fourth RBI of the day. Sophomore shortstop, Brittany Campbell, and freshman catcher, Jessica Fay, both hit doubles for RBI's in the big win.
Brookdale is 12-11 overall, and 8-2 in the conference. Their next game will be home against the DII Mercer County Community College Vikings on Thursday, April 25th, starting at 3:00pm.
