The Herkimer Generals Edge Brookdale In Nationals Elimination Game, 7-6
Dewitt, NY - The Brookdale softball team came out swinging early in the first inning to lead 5-2 against the Herkimer College Generals in the elimination game of the NJCAA DIII Softball National Tournament, but the Blues couldn't hang on, losing 7-6.
Dewitt, NY - The Brookdale softball team came out swinging early in the first inning to lead 5-2 against the Herkimer College Generals in the elimination game of the NJCAA DIII Softball World Series, but the Blues couldn't hang on, losing 7-6.
The Generals broke through the third inning with four runs, then topped the fourth with a SAC fly RBI to push the score to 7-5. The Jersey Blues tried to make a run in the sixth as freshman pitcher Mallory Shevlin got to first base on an error to score sophomore third baseman Zoey Hagan for their sixth and final run. In Brookdale's fight, RBI's came from sophomore DP Kelli Tuttle with two, including a clutch triple, sophomore shortstop Nicolette Pavlik with an RBI double, Zoey Hagan, who hit 2-for-4, with a double, and sophomore left fielder Madison Parrish who also batted 2-for-4.
Brookdale (34-11) will play the No. 4 RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners for 5th place in the NJCAA DIII World Series on Friday, May 26th, at 3:00pm in Dewitt, NY.
