Brookdale Drops First Round Game Against Joliet At Softball World Series
Dewitt, NY - Following a few hour rain delay, the No. 3 nationally ranked Brookdale Community College softball team finally stepped onto the 2023 DIII National Tournament soil for a battle against the No. 6 ranked Joliet Junior College Wolves. The Blues outhit the Wolves ten to seven, and matched the amount of strikeouts with ten, but they just couldn't seem to get into a groove.
DeWitt, NY - Following a few hour rain delay, the No. 3 nationally ranked Brookdale Community College softball team finally stepped onto the 2023 DIII National Tournament soil for a battle against the No. 6 ranked Joliet Junior College Wolves. The Blues outhit the Wolves ten to seven, and matched the amount of strikeouts with ten, but they just couldn't seem to get into a groove.
Joliet jumped out early with consistent hits in the first inning, leaving the Jersey Blues in a 4-0 deficit. The Wolves scored three more unanswered runs in the third inning to make it 7-0, until the 6th inning when sophomore right fielder, Ana Marziano, reached first on an error by Joliet's shortstop. Sophomore left fielder, Madison Parrish, who went 2-for-3 including a double, advanced to second, as freshman catcher, Sydney Rawlings, who also batted 2-for-3, scored the lone unearned run for Brookdale. Other hits came from sophomore pitcher, Gianna Praet, with two singles to assist the Jersey Blues.
Brookdale will play the No. 7 ranked Suffolk County Community College Sharks on Thursday, May 25th, at 1:00pm in the NJCAA DIII Softball World Series Elimination Round.
