Toms River, NJ - Brookdale softball shut-out the Ocean County College Vikings in two games, 15-0, 9-0, to push their overall record to 9-3.
Sophomore catcher, Alyssa Sigler, cranked a homer and two doubles to score four runs with her 3-for-4 trips to the plate. Doubles were the hits of the day as freshman second baseman, Mallory Shevlin, hit 3-for-3, all doubles, sophomore third baseman, Zoey Hagan, went 2-for-3 to post two for four RBI's, and sophomore center fielder, Ana Marziano, hit 3-for-3, ripping two doubles for two RBI's. Sophomore winning pitcher, Gianna Praet threw a one-hitter while striking out 11.
Brookdale scored nine runs in the first inning of the second game with a two-run double by freshman pitcher, Mallory Shevlin, an RBI double from sophomore shortstop, Nicolette Pavlik, and RBI singles from sophomore left fielder, Madison Parrish, and sophomore right fielder, Krystyna Rivera. Shevlin blew through batters with 14 strikeouts, allowing just one hit.
Next, Brookdale heads to play the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College on Saturday, April 8th, beginning at noon.
