Softball Slides To NJCAA National Tournament After Grabbing Region XIX District E Championship Title
Vineland, NJ- The Brookdale softball team grabbed the Region XIX District E championship title as they grounded the Cougars of Camden County College, 8-0 and 5-3. Sophomore second baseman Paige Eckert was named MVP of the game.

Vineland, NJ- The Brookdale softball team grabbed the Region XIX District E championship title as they grounded the Cougars of Camden County College, 8-0 and 5-3. Sophomore second baseman Paige Eckert was named MVP of the game.
Brookdale opened game one with Eckert connecting three times at the plate and bringing in one RBI. Sophomore outfielder Bridget Coulahan went 2-4 as freshman catcher Michelle King tallied two hits and one RBI. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Bobbie Beck recorded the shutout with six strikeouts. Beck's record improved to 14-5.
In game two, freshman outfielder Carley Layton knocked in two RBI's while freshman shortstop Lizzie Dorsa posted two hits. Freshman third baseman Alyssa Raimondo added one hit and one RBI. Sophomore Rachel Hrevnak spun for the win while Beck came in for relief to earn the save.
With the two-game victory, Brookdale will compete in the NJCAA DIII national championship tournament in Rochester, Minnesota from May 17th- May 19th.
