Myrtle Beach, SC - The Jersey Blues softball team split their games on Sunday beating the Onondaga Community College Lazers 11-5 in the first game and losing to the Herkimer County Community College Generals, 3-2 in nine innings after an international tie-breaker.
In the first game against the Lazers, Brookdale took the win with the help of sophomore second baseman Paige Eckert, who slapped a triple and a single for three RBI's. Sophomore center-fielder Katrina Hand gathered two hits, two steals and three runs scored as freshman second baseman Lizzie Dorsa thumped a solo home run, her second home run on the season. The winning pitcher for the Blues was freshman Jessica Pszeniczny and sophomore Bobbie Beck earned the save.
In game two, the Jersey Blues were down 1-0 as sophomore catcher Bridget Coulahan hit a sacrifice fly in the 7th inning followed by sophomore Katrina Hand's RBI single to tie the game in the eighth. But to no avail as they lost 3-2 and sophomore pitcher Rachel Hrevnak was unfortunately the hard luck loser with no earned runs in nine innings.
The Jersey Blues will see the Potomac State College of WVU Catamounts on Monday at 9:00am, then will face the Herkimer Generals once again at 11:00am in Myrtle Beach, SC.
