Softball Wins Region XIX Title; Jersey Blues Advance To NJCAA National Tournament
Sewell, NJ- The Brookdale softball team defeated the Cougars of Camden County College in two games to capture the Region XIX title and advance to the NJCAA division III national tournament.

Sewell, NJ- The Brookdale softball team defeated the Cougars of Camden County College in two games to capture the Region XIX title and advance to the NJCAA division III national tournament.
In the eighth inning of game one, the Jersey Blues scored eight runs highlighted by an RBI single from freshman first baseman Bridget Coulahan. Four runs were earned off hit batters and bases loaded walks. Freshman second baseman Paige Eckert recorded two hits and two RBI's while freshman pitcher Rachel Hrevnak spun for the 9-1 win. Hrevnak gave up one unearned run and struck out six batters.
In game two, Brookdale opened up with five scored runs in the first inning sparked by a two-run double from sophomore center-fielder Taylor Mennie and RBI singles by sophomore third baseman Danelle Lewis and sophomore right-fielder Megan Mego. Sophomore shortstop Nikki Alfano and freshman left-fielder Katrina Hand each posted three hits in the 12-0 victory.
Hrevnak continued to throw heat from the mound, pitching a six inning shutout and earning MVP honors for the tournament. Hrevnak totaled 15 strikeouts in the doubleheader.
Brookdale will next travel to Rochester, MN for the national tournament that will take place from May 18th-20th.
