Softball Sprints Past Middlesex In First Round Of Region Tournament
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale softball team ran past the Blue Colts of Middlesex County College, 21-0 and 9-0 in the first round of the Region XIX tournament.

Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale softball team ran past the Blue Colts of Middlesex County College, 21-0 and 9-0 in the first round of the Region XIX tournament.
In game one, the Jersey Blues had a strong fourth inning and scored 16 runs. Freshman left-fielder Katrina Hand went 4-4 at bat while sophomore right-fielder Megan Mego posted three doubles. Sophomore center-fielder Taylor Mennie and freshman catcher Bridget Coulahan each recorded three hits and three RBI's. Freshman first baseman Veronica Woehr launched a three-run double as freshman pitcher Rachel Hrevnak notched the win from the mound. Hrevnak collected seven strikeouts.
In game two, the Blues continued to bring the heat with sophomore pitcher Lauren Coppinger on the mound. Coppinger struck out four Blue Colt batters. Freshman second baseman Paige Eckert and Mennie added two hits and two RBI's.
With the win, the team will move on to the final round of the region tournament hosted at Rowan College at Gloucester County on Saturday, May 6th.
