Former Student-Athlete's Father Praises Brookdale

Asbury Park, NJ- The 2013 and 2014 Brookdale softball seasons featured National Player of the Year Cassidy Brzozowski. In 2014, she was named Outstanding Defensive Player of the National Tournament and earned a spot on the first All-American, All-Region and All-GSAC teams. Cassidy's father, Stan Brzozowski wrote to the Absury Park Press about his daughter's experience at Brookdale Community College.                             

Brookdale. A "Great Option"

  Still undecided about college? Don't rule out Brookdale Community College. Brookdale has proven to be one of the best choices my daughter has made.

  My daughter was an "average" student in high school. She wanted to go to college down south, we just couldn't afford it at the time. She decided on Rowan to play softball. She was told that she would only be taking basic courses the first 2 years. Tuition was $24,000.00 or $48,000.00 for the first 2 years.

  Brookdale would be $8,000.00 for the first 2 years for the same courses. How can that be? "$40,000.00 difference". We talked with our daughter and decided if she went to Brookdale she would be able to go down south to finish her college career.

  She went to Brookdale and fell in love with the school. She will now tell you if it was a 4 year school she would have stayed. The teachers, professors and staff were professional, courteous, helpful and caring. With their guidance, she maintained a 3.50 gpa and graduated with her Associates and 61 credits.

   She also played softball at Brookdale. With the help of the coaching staff, she became a force on the field. National Player of the Year, 1^st team All-American, All Region, All Conference, 100-14 record, 2 region championships and a 2^nd and 3^rd place at Nationals. It was all possible because of the professionalism, dedication and just plain great friends that Coach Scannapieco, Coach Bryant, Coach Williams, Athletic Director Shawn Noel and the entire Athletic Department were.

   Because of Brookdale, she is now playing softball for D1 Coastal Carolina. But more importantly, because of Brookdale, she received an Academic Scholarship and because she graduated, they accepted all 61 credits.

  So if you are still undecided, please don't leave out Brookdale, you won't be disappointed. It is a "Great Option".
