Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale Community College freshman shortstop Cassie Varvaro  has been named the Garden State Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 22nd.

Varvaro took no time getting adjusted to the collegiate game, reaching base in all 11 games played and recording a hit in 10-straight for the third-ranked Jersey Blues.  Over the week, the shortstop batted at a .555 clip, including a standout 3-for-4 performance with three stolen bases in a 6-3 win over Division II Lackawanna. The speedster scored five runs while stealing four bases on the week.
