Bio

Coach Dennis Flynn was hired as the Jersey Blues assistant coach of the men's and women's cross country teams in June of 2019. Coach Flynn served as the Mater Dei Prep High School assistant boys cross country and track coach under Coach Mike Tursi for 17 years. As the assistant, Coach Flynn helped coach successful Mater Dei cross country teams to Non-Public B State Championships in 2007 and 2017. He also helped coach the cross country teams to eight division titles.

In addition to coaching cross country, Coach Flynn was also the assistant indoor and outdoor boys track coach at Mater Dei where he coached the weights. He enjoyed success with these programs, winning Non-Public B outdoor State Track Championships in 2006, 2017 and 2018. Coach Flynn's track teams won four division championships, and had the opportunity to coach two sectional and three state group individual champions as well. Additionally, he had the honor of coaching the athletes who still hold the Mater Dei school records in the shotput, discus and javelin.

Coach Flynn was a Keyport High School cross country and track athlete. After high school, he attended Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City where he graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education and American Studies in 1999. Coach Flynn was certified by the Track and Field Academy in the spring of 2014. He is a special education teacher at the Hawkswood School where he has taught since 2015. He is married and the father of two girls. Coach Flynn resides in MIddletown, NJ.
