Huge Showing For Men's Cross Country At The NJIT Highlander Invitational
Newark, NJ - The men's cross country team had a huge showing at the NJIT Highlander Invitational this past weekend as they move up the rankings from 8th to 7th in the USTFCCCA NJCAA DIII national poll.
Newark, NJ - The men's cross country team had a huge showing at the NJIT Highlander Invitational this past weekend as they move up the rankings from 8th to 7th in the USTFCCCA NJCAA DIII national poll.
Leading the Jersey Blues once again was freshman Gavin Tay who placed 76th overall in the 8k race and ran a personal record of 29:00. He was followed by freshman Andrew Lorig at 108th who also ran a personal best of 30:00. Next was freshman Harmon Hass with a personal record of 31:42 and was closely followed by freshman Jeremy Villagra-Castro with his personal best of 32:00. Rounding out the squad was freshman Alex Carrillo and his personal best time of 32:34.
Sophomore Aiden Casucci finished in 6th place for the Blues at 33:07 with freshman Diego Alva on his heels at 33:16. Sophomore Lance Bennette hustled up next with his personal best of 33:46, then freshman Scott Hurst and his personal best of 34:04, and sophomore Jack Kratka seconds behind at 34:11. Freshman Fredson Rodriguez-Segovia added his personal best record time of 34:35 with freshman Carmine Isaac right behind him at 34:38 to chalk up his personal best record as well. Overall, the men had 10 personal best records and two season bests!
The Jersey Blues are off this upcoming weekend, but will be back in Newark NJ, for the Region 19 DIII Championships in Branch Brook Park on Sunday, October 27th, with an 11:00am start.
