Brookdale Cross Country Finishes 2nd In Jersey Blues Invitational
Lincroft, NJ - The Weather could not have been any better nor skies any bluer for Brookdale's own, Jersey Blues Invitational . The men's cross country team had a fantastic showing in the 5K race as all 13 men ran their season best personal records in a 5K. The team overall finished a strong second.
Lincroft, NJ - The Weather could not have been any better nor skies any bluer for Brookdale's own, Jersey Blues Invitational. The men's cross country team had a fantastic showing in the race as all thirteen men ran their season personal best records in a 5K, and the team finished in a strong 2nd place overall.
Leading the Blues crew was freshman, Gavin Tay (Matawan Regional High School), who battled it out beginning to end to finish 2nd overall at 17:42. Next was freshman Andrew Lorig (Matawan Regional High School), who placed 7th overall at 18:40. The 3rd man across the line was sophomore captain, Isaias Usurin Long Branch High School), who finished 12th overall, 19:29. On the heels of Usurin, was freshman, Harmon Hass (Saint John Vianney), who despite running most of the race with one shoe, placed 13th in 19:32. Placing 16th overall was sophomore captain, Aiden Casucci (Freehold Boro High School), coming in at 20:01.
Casucci lead a strong pack of teammates and was followed closely by, freshman Jeremy Villagra-Castro (Manasquan High School), at 20:05, freshman Scott Hurst (Howell High School), 20:32, and 18th overall.
Also, sophomore team captain, Jack Kratka (Middletown South High School), finished 19th, sophomore captain, Lance Bennette (Point Pleasant Boro High School), came in 21st, freshman Diego Alva (Dumont High School), placed 23rd, freshman Fredson Rodriguez-Segovia (Long Branch High School) was 24th, 26th place was freshman Alex Carrillo (Red Bank Regional), and Carmine Isaac (Freehold Township) was 28th.
The 8th nationally ranked Jersey Blues will be off this week, but will return strong and ready for the 50th annual Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Saturday, October 5th, at 1:00pm.
