Men's Cross Country Opens Season In The Philadelphia Metro Invitational
Philadelphia, PA - Thre Brookdale men's cross country team opened up their season this past Saturday, September 9th, at Belmont Plateau Park in Philadelphia, PA, for the Philadelphia Metro Invitational.
Philadelphia, PA - The Brookdale men's cross country team opened up their season this past Saturday, September 9th, at Belmont Plateau Park in Philadelphia, PA, for the Philadelphia Metro Invitational.
The 8K course is considered one of the most challenging courses on the East Coast and the men were up for the task. On a very hot and humid day the men were led by sophomore and 2022 1st team All-Region runner, Casey Brown (Point Pleasant Boro High School), who placed 72nd with a time of 32:46. Brown was followed across the line by sophomore Matt Newman (Rumson-Fair Have High School), who placed 94th at 35:35. Next, was sophomore Jay Morris (Monmouth Regional High School) who placed 106th with a time of 37:59. First year sophomore Isaias Usurin (Long Branch High School) followed Morris as he placed 111th for 39:32.
Finishing out the top five was freshman Jack Kratka (Middletown South High School) for 115th with a time of 40:04. Freshman Lance Bennette (Brick Township High School ) placed 116th, freshman Aiden Casucci (Freehold Boro High School) 122nd, and sophomore Joshua Cabral (Middletown North High School) finished at 130th. .
The men's team will be back on the course this Saturday, September 16th, to compete in the Osprey Open, hosted by Stockton College, beginning at 11:15am.
