Lincroft, NJ - The Jersey Blues family will always remember our long time head men's tennis coach, Rich Karpinski and his 30 years of mentoring student-athletes on and off the tennis court.
Rich Karpinski served as the head men's tennis coach at Brookdale from 1989-2019. He is currently the winningest coach in Brookdale men's tennis history with 208 victories. A standout player for Raritan High School, "Coach K" played for the Jersey Blues in 1978 and 1979, winning two regional doubles titles and being named first team All-Region and All-GSAC in both years.
Over his three decades at the helm, Karpinski has coached more than 80 regional champions, 19 national champions and 43 All-American National Team runners-up throughout his career. His teams went undefeated for five consecutive seasons and won regional titles from 2000-2004. He was named Regional Coach of the Year five consecutive times. In addition, Coach Karpinski received the NJCAA Hershel Stevens Coaching Award in 2013, was named to the Raritan High School Hall of Fame in 2004, and in 2017 was named to the Brookdale Athletics Hall of Fame.
"Rich was more than a coach. He truly cared about his student-athletes and wanted them to be successful on and off the court. I had the privilege of knowing Coach Karp as a student-athlete and then a colleague, said Athletic Director, Katelyn P. Amundson. "He will truly be missed and we will continue to share his story and relive our memories".
