Orlando, FL-Sophomores Bobbie Boehler (softball) and Maclane Smoke (men's tennis) have been named the male and female NATYCAA scholar-athlete of the year. This marks the first time in the award's 22-year history that one college has swept the male and female award.
Colorado Springs, CO- Five Brookdale Community College student-athletes have earned academic honors, as announced by the NJCAA this afternoon. A three-tiered honor system, to earn the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement, a student athlete must have earned a GPA between 3.80 – 3.99 and the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement requires a GPA between 3.6 and 3.79 and the NJCAA Pinnacle award requires a 4.0. For all honors, at least 45 credit hours must have been completed.
Plano, TX- Brookdale Community College sophomore Maclane Smoke has done it again. In three straight sets, Smoke clinched the national title at first singles, downing his opponent, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2. This is the second year in a row Smoke has taken first singles at the national level.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team had three players earn All-Region honors for their performances throughout the season. Sophomore first singles Maclane Smoke and freshman third singles Nicholas Barone were named to the All-Region second team.
West Windsor, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team wrapped up the 2014 season with a third place finish at the Region XIX tournament. Freshman Nicholas Barone defeated his Gloucester opponent in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5. Sophomore Maclane Smoke dominated his match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team fell to the Vikings of Ocean County College, 8-1. Freshman Conor Ritchey earned the Blues only win at first singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Media, PA- The Brookdale men's tennis team topped Williamson Trade, 6-3. The Jersey Blues swept first and second doubles matches, 8-0 and 8-2. Freshman Conor Ritchey opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles. Freshman Nicholas Barone took second singles,6-2, 6-0. Freshmen John Wills and Patrick Mills downed their opponents at third and fourth singles, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0.
Newtown, PA- The Brookdale men's tennis team defeated the Centurions of Bucks County Community College, 4-0. Freshman Conor Ritchey opened up first singles with a 2-1 win, 3-6, 6-1,10-4. Freshman Nicholas Barone blanked his opponent in second singles, 6-0, 6-0 while third singles John Wills did the same. Freshman Patrick Mills earned a two-set win of his own at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1.
West Windsor, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team was defeated by Mercer County Community College, 6-3. The Jersey Blues swept the Vikings in doubles matches. Maclane Smoke and Conor Ritchey blanked Mercer at first doubles, 8-0 while Nicholas Barone and John Wills took second doubles, 8-6.
Toms River, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team was defeated by the Vikings of Ocean County College, 7-2. Sophomore Maclane smoke opened singles action with a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles. Smoke and freshman Conor Ritchey took first doubles, 8-5.
Sewell, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team fell to the Roadrunners of Gloucester County College, 9-0. Conor Ritchey and Nicholas Barone were defeated at first doubles, 8-2. At second doubles, John Wills and Patrick Mills fell, 8-2.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team recorded a 6-0 shut out victory against the Centurions of Bucks County Community College. Freshman Conor Ritchey, Nicholas Barone, John Wills and Patrick Mills each won their singles matches.
Bel Air, MD- The Brookdale men's tennis team took third place at the Harford National Invitational with 3 back-draw finalists. Sophomore Maclane Smoke made it to the finals at first singles while freshman Conor Ritchey got to the finals at second singles.
Paramus, NJ- The Brookdale Men's Tennis team suffered a tough loss to Bergen Community College, 3-6. Sophomore Maclane Smoke and freshman Conor Ritchey opened the match with a 9-7 win at first doubles.
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale men's tennis team played a tough match against the Roadrunners of Gloucester County College. The Blues won 3 out of the 9 match-ups. Sophomore Maclane Smoke and freshman Conor Ritchey won the first doubles match as well as their individual matches.
Lincroft, NJ- The men's tennis team played a great match against Williamson Trade, winning all of their matches. Sophomore Maclane Smoke won first singles 6-0, 6-0 while teammate Conor Ritchey went 6-1, 6-0 in second singles.
