Brookdale Men Win Season Opener Against DII Rockland CC, 111-88

Lincroft, NJ - The Brookdale men's basketball team opened up their season with a nice,111-88, win over the DII Rockland Community College Hawks.

The Jersey Blues set the tone of the game by jumping out to an aggressive early lead, while expanding it to 15 points at the half. Brookdale continued the lead throughout the second half as they blew up the scoreboard with a 26 point lead at one point. The Blues had quite an advantage as five players scored in double digits. Leading the pack was freshman guard, Nick Williams, with 26 points. Sophomore point guard, Kevin Mateo, dropped 17 points, adding seven assists and four steals, and sophomore point guard, Andre Wells, landed his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 assists. Sophomore forward, Niles Halliburton, hit for 15 points, and freshman forward, Darnell Askew, finished with his first double-double as a Jersey Blue with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blues (1-0) host their second home game on Sunday, November 6th, at 2:00pm, against the Nassau Community College Lions.
