Montgomery Mustangs Spoil Region Final Four Hopes For Brookdale
Blue Bell, PA - The Brookdale men's basketball season came to an unfortunate end losing 74-70 to the #2 ranked, Montgomery County Community College Mustangs, and stripping their hopes to advance in the Region XIX Tournament finals.
Blue Bell, PA - The Brookdale men's basketball season came to an unfortunate end, losing 74-70, to the #2 ranked, Montgomery County Community College Mustangs, and stripping their hopes to advance in the Region XIX Tournament finals.
The Jersey Blues had an early lead with an eight-point spurt, then the Mustangs went toe to toe with the Blues as they headed into halftime with a 36-34 advantage. The game altered with eight minutes left on the clock in the second half when Montgomery went on an 18 point run. As results may have looked grim for Brookdale, the fighting Jersey Blues bounced back. With 11 seconds remaining, freshman guard, Jelani Carter, took a final trifecta shot but came up short to end the game and season. The stats of both teams were tightly matched and Brookdale fought long and hard to preserve their season which ended with an 18-11 overall record.
Sophomore forward and leading scorer, Tyler Hawkins, netted 23 points and dished six assists while sophomore guard, David Calloway, paced the Blues with 15 points. First year guard, Allen Ozojie hit for his final double-double with 12 points and a gripping 16 rebounds.
