Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale, the 2018 NJCAA National Champions, won their home opener on Saturday in the Robert J. Collins Arena against the Dukes of Cumberland County College, 71-70.

The Jersey Blues had a comfortable 14 point lead at the half until the Dukes started hitting their shots. Both teams struggled on the foul line, but Brookdale managed to recover and seal the win in the final seconds. Leading scorer sophomore forward Terra Gatling dropped 16 points and pulled eight rebounds on the night. Freshman guard Keyshawn Cummings from Manasquan High School, hit for 15 points while another freshman guard Lamar Johnson contributed 13 points. In addition, sophomore forward Jahmere Calhoun from Brick Memorial High School, swatted five blocked shots.
Brookdale is currently 1-1 and will host their second home game on Thursday, November 15th at 7:00pm against the Colonials of CC Philadelphia.
