Bio

Katrina Thornton was hired in 2014 as the head cheerleading coach at Brookdale Community College.  A Brookdale alum, Thornton has been involved in cheer for more than 40 years.  A cheerleader and coach from her youth through high school, Thornton also cheered collegiately and as a professional NBA cheerleader.  She also has experience coaching and competing in gymnastics and dance. 

During her time at Brookdale, Thornton was a Brookdale dance team member, a Phi Theta Kappa honor society inductee and a Dean’s list scholar.  Additionally, Thornton continues to serve as a competition cheer judge and freelance choreographer in the Tri-state area. 

Thornton is a lifelong resident of Tinton Falls, NJ, were she lives with her husband, Rich Brunson, who is the head coach for the women’s basketball team.
