Camden, NJ - The Brookdale Community College baseball team won the 2025 NJCAA DIII Region 19 North Atlantic District Championship after their defeat over the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners, 12-5.
The win marks the first Region 19 Championship for Brookdale in 16 years. The Jersey Blues have won the Region 19 title three times since dropping to Division III in 2007 and have been Region 19 Champs eight times overall under Head Coach, Johnny Johnson.
Following a heart-breaking loss to the Roadrunners just hours before, the Jersey Blues dusted themselves off for game-two and were ready for battle like the Jersey Blues do. Freshman center fielder, Declan Sheehan, led the Blues with three RBI's off of his 4-for-5 at bats; including a double, and freshman second baseman, Christopher Clark, hit an instrumental two RBI double.
Also coming through with huge RBI hits were sophomore catcher, Shane Andrus, sophomore third baseman, Junior Nunez, sophomore Malik Little Jr., freshman shortstop, Justin Lopez, and freshman left-fielder, Gary John Perone. Freshman left-handed pitcher, Matt Desiderio, won it on the mound in 7.0 innings with four strikeouts as sophomore, Richard Barton, got the save in 2.0 innings with two strikeouts. The Region 19 Tournament MVP was awarded to Gary John Perone.
