Brookdale Baseball Plows Through Northampton In First Round Of Region Playoffs
Lincroft, NJ - The #2 seeded Brookdale Jersey Blues baseball team plowed through the #7 Spartans of Northmpton Community College in the first round of the NJCAA DIII Region 19 playoffs with final scores of 15-5 and 3-1.

Lincroft, NJ - The #2 seeded Brookdale Jersey Blues baseball team plowed through the #7 Spartans of Northmpton Community College in the first round of the NJCAA DIII Region 19 playoffs with final scores of 15-5 and 3-1.
Brookdale wrapped up game-one with a 15-5 win in just 5.0 innings with sophomore Christian Simonsen (7-2) on the rubber for its entirety. At bat, freshman center fielder, Declan Sheehan, was a key factor in the win by donating four huge RBI's off of his his two doubles, and sophomore catcher, Shane Andrus continued his consistent batting streak by hitting a perfect 4-for-4 for three RBI's. Sophomore third baseman, Junior Nunez, cranked a beautiful double in his 3-for-4 at bats and produced three RBI's.
The game-two, 3-1, win was a bit more challenging at the plate for the Blues as crucial RBI's came from freshman left fielder, Anthony Pizzuti, with an RBI double, Declan Sheehan, and sophomore first baseman, Richard Kernan. On the mound, freshman Gary John Perone (4-1) was stellar for 9.0 innings, striking out 14 while allowing just three hits.
Brookdale, 37-8, will move on to the final four of the Region 19 Tournament on Thursday, May 15th, 12:00pm, at Rutgers University-Camden to play the #3 seeded RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes.
