Rockland Gets Rocked By Brookdale In Season Opening Sweep
Lincroft, NJ - There's nothing like a sweep on opening day, and Brookdale baseball did just that against the Rockland Community College Hawks with scores of 11-4 and 5-2.

Lincroft, NJ - There's nothing like a sweep on opening day, and Brookdale baseball did just that against the Rockland Community College Hawks with scores of 11-4 and 5-2.
In game one, freshman Jake Burt (Wall High School) got the win on the mound earning five strikeouts in three innings. There were some hot bats on a cold day as sophomore right fielder, Nick LoVarco (Wall High School), went 1-2, smacking the first homer for the Jersey Blues this season. Freshman second baseman, Anthony Martino (Brick Memorial High School), hit 3-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI's as sophomore DH, Dan Cowles (Colts Neck High School), posted 2-3 hits for two RBI's. Freshman third baseman, Rocko Brzezniak (Saint John Vianney High School), batted 1,000 for a 3-3 showing at the plate while adding a stolen base.
In the second game, sophomore, Ryan Cole (Neptune High School), struck out four while facing 12 batters in three pitched innings for the win. Nick LoVarco struck again, batting 2-4, and reporting his second home run of the day with two RBI's. Crushing his first home run as a Jersey Blue was freshman catcher, Shane Andrus (Red Bank Catholic), who also gathered two RBI's from his 1-3 at bats. Freshman shortstop, Christopher Clark (Toms River South High Schoo), held his own at the plate as well, hitting 1-3 with a big double.
The Jersey Blues (2-0) will travel to the Camden County College Cougar den next on Friday, March 1st, with a 3:00pm start.
