Brookdale Baseball Sweeps The Bergen Bulldogs

Red Bank, NJ - The Jersey Blues were red hot this past weekend as they swept the Bulldogs of Bergen Community College in a three-game series, earning scores of, 12-8, 8-3, and 7-6. 

In game one, sophomore infielder, Will Gannon, went 1-6 with a triple and batted in four big RBI's as fellow freshman infielder, Robert Zega, hit 2-4, gathering three RBI's. Adding to the RBI list, freshman catcher, Trevor Brey,  batted 2-2 and brought home two RBI's. Starting sophomore pitcher, Dylan Taliaferro (1-1), earned the win, allowing only six hits with 10 strikeouts. 

In the second game of the double header, the Sophomores displayed their skills with first baseman, Ryan Gilmore, going 1-2 with a double and an RBI. Outfielder, TJ Scuderi, went 2-3 with a triple, an RBI, and two stolen bases. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, Matt Pickus (1-0), threw a complete game allowing nine hits and six strikeouts.

The final and most intense game of the series with a final 7-6 score, included sophomore infielder, William Kile, who hit 1-3, including a double as he pulled in two runs. Freshman second baseman, Giuseppe Arcuri, also ripped in two runs, going 2-2 on the day. In the bottom of the 7th inning with two outs, sophomore third baseman Jeff Massicotte stepped up to the plate and smacked a two-run walk-off homerun to end the game. Jeff went 1-2 and earned three RBI's on the day. Sophomore Right-handed relief pitcher, Michael Wynne (1-0) closed out the game and earned his win for the Blues. 

Brookdale will be taking their show on the road for the next 10 games as they head to sunny Florida for spring training. They will be taking on the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights in Kissimee, FL on Sunday, March 15th.
