Baseball Wins One In Three Game Series Against Cumberland Dukes

Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale baseball team grabbed one win against the Dukes of Cumberland County College in the three-game series.

In game one that was played down at Cumberland, Brookdale was edged 9-6. Sophomore right-fielder Nick Martinez recorded three hits for one double as sophomore third baseman Mike Russell posted one double and one RBI. Sophomore left-fielder Joe Rotelli tallied one double and two RBI's.

The Jersey Blues took game two, 11-1. Freshman right-handed pitcher Anthony Ratti hurled the complete game and struck out seven Duke batters. Ratti notched his sixth win of the season.

At bat, sophomore center-fielder Mike Santaromita went 3-5. Santaromita totaled two scored runs, one triple, one home-run and five RBI's. Martinez and Rotelli continued to spark Brookdale's offense with two-run homers in the first inning. Rotelli also added another home-run, three RBI's and one double while Martinez contributed two scored runs, one double, two RBI's and one walk.

Brookdale fell in game three, 10-3. Freshman designated hitter Trevor Romeo went 2-2 as Martinez crushed another home-run and tallied one triple and one RBI.

After the three-game series, the team's record stands at 32-21 and Brookdale will return to the diamond on Monday, May 8th to play a single game against the Cougars of Camden County College.
