Jersey Blues Collect Two Conference Wins Against Union County College

Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale baseball team collected two wins against the Owls of Union County College, 16-8 and 14-6. In game one, sophomore left-fielder Nick Martinez went 2-3 at bat, crushing one home run, one double and knocking in two RBI's.

Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale baseball team collected two wins against the Owls of Union County College, 16-8 and 14-6. In game one, sophomore left-fielder Nick Martinez went 2-3 at bat, crushing one home run, one double and knocking in two RBI's.

Sophomore third baseman Mike Russell connected four out of five times from the plate. Russell posted two doubles, two stolen bases, two RBI's and four scored runs. Freshman designated hitter Trevor Romeo added three hits for one triple and two RBI's.

In game two, freshman right-handed pitcher Anthony Ratti tossed for the win, notching his fourth victory of the season. Ratti threw for five innings and struck out seven Owl batters.

Russell and Romeo's bats stayed hot as Russell contributed two more doubles and two RBI's while Romeo launched one home run and drove in four RBI's.

Sophomore outfielder Elvis Clime recorded one double and two RBI's as sophomore first baseman Michael Ianelli contributed  one triple and one RBI. Freshman shortstop Matthew D'Angelo tallied his first home run of the season and brought in two RBI's.

The team improves their overall record to 23-3 and will next take on University of Connecticut at Avery Point on Sunday, April 9th for a doubleheader starting at noon.
