Brookdale Records Victory Against Cumberland Dukes In Game One Of Final Four

Vineland, NJ- The Jersey Blues baseball team recorded a 2-0 victory over the Dukes of Cumberland County College in game one of the final four of the Region XIX tournament. Freshman center-fielder Mike Santaromita posted one hit and one scored run while sophomore shortstop Alfredo Molina Jr. posted two hits, one stolen base and scored the final run of the game.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Mike Imperato tossed for seven innings and earned three strikeouts. Freshman right-handed pitcher Michael Russell collected the save from the mound, throwing in relief for two innings.

In game two, the Blues fell by one run to the Roadrunners of Rowan College at Gloucester County in 10 innings. Brookdale fought back from being down by three runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the score at six in the top of the sixth inning. In the top of the eighth, Brookdale took the lead but couldn't hold on to it.

Sophomore catcher Nicholas Blaney contributed two hits and two scored runs while Russell added three hits and knocked in four runs. Molina tallied one double and one RBI.

The team returns to action in Vineland on Sunday, May 15th to face the Dukes of Cumberland County College at noon in an elimination game.
