Baseball Overwhelms Camden Cougars In Quarter-Finals Of Region XIX Tournament
Blackwood, NJ- The Brookdale baseball team overwhelmed the Cougars of Camden County College in the first round of the Region XIX tournament, 7-6 and 11-3. In game one, sophomore Chris Marte pitched eight innings, striking out five batters and allowing 10 scattered hits.

Blackwood, NJ- The Brookdale baseball team overwhelmed the Cougars of Camden County College in the first round of the Region XIX tournament, 7-6 and 11-3. In game one, sophomore Chris Marte pitched eight innings, striking out five batters and allowing 10 scattered hits.
At bat, sophomore outfielder Tim Carney recorded two hits, one run scored and two RBI's while sophomore catcher Aaron Kane ripped three hits for a triple, one run scored and one RBI. Freshman catcher Nick Blaney added two RBI's and one run scored for the Jersey Blues.
In game two, sophomore pitcher Nick Panduri hurled eight innings from the mound, collecting seven strikeouts, five hits and three runs scored.
Sophomore outfielder Harold Hester drove in two runs and scored one himself while Carney and Kane smashed homeruns and contributed two more hits apiece for a combined total of five RBI's.
The team returns home to face the number one-seeded Roadrunners of Rowan College at Gloucester County on Friday, May 8th for the semi-finals.
