Baseball Sweeps Northampton In First Round Of Region Tournament; Luis Hidalgo Smashes Grand Slam
Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale baseball team came out strong against the Spartans of Northampton Community College in today's doubleheader. In game one, the Blues blanked the Spartans, 11-0. In the bottom of the fourth, sophomore short stop Luis Hidalgo smashed a grand slam. He also ripped a 3-run homer in the fifth inning to end the game.

Freshman first baseman Tim Carney went 3-3 at the plate while sophomore outfielder Jon Roszel tallied a double and an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Jake Winston threw for the 5-inning win, striking out 7 batters and allowing just 3 hits.
In game two, the Blues downed the Spartans, 8-2. Freshman short stop Spencer Young collected a double and an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Kyle Golla went 2-5 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Billy Worswick pitched the 9-inning win, striking out 7 batters and giving up 6 scattered hits.
The team advances to the final four, which will be played on Friday, May 9th at home. The Jersey Blues will face the Dukes of Cumberland County College at 12pm.
