Bio

Katelyn P. Amundson was named Director of Athletics and Recreation in October of 2018. Amundson previously worked six years as assistant-director of athletics & recreation and three years as athletic coordinator for the department. Beginning in 2011, Amundson also served as the head coach of the women's soccer team, coaching her last full season in 2019 before stepping down in January of 2021.

Amundson currently serves in several different positions in the NJCAA, Region XIX and the Garden State Athletic Conference. From 2019-2021, she served as GSAC Vice-President before climbing the ladder to GSAC President, a position she currently holds until 2023. On top of becoming GSAC President, Amundson also jumped from the Region XIX Women's Assistant Director position in 2021 into the Region XIX Women’s Director role, a position she has held since 2022.

Amundson, a 2007 Brookdale graduate and two-sport student-athlete herself, served as assistant coach for the women’s soccer team for two years before being promoted to the head position.  Amundson also started working as a counselor for the Brookdale summer sport camps in 2006.

Amundson was an accomplished student-athlete during her undergraduate career at Brookdale.  As a defender, she was named to the first All-Region and All-Garden State Athletic Conference teams and currently holds the record for the most headers scored in a season.  In addition to captaining the 2006 Region XIX championship  women’s soccer team, Amundson was also a starter on the 2006-07 Region XIX championship women’s basketball team. Amundson was also named an Academic All-American and won the 2006 NAGWS award.

In 2009, she graduated from Ramapo College with a Bachelor's degree in History and was captain of the women's soccer team her senior year. Amundson also completed her Master's Degree from Rutgers University in 2016.

In 2013, Amundson coached the Jersey Blues women's soccer team to the programs first ever national championship. In 2014, the program repeated, winning its second national title. In 2015, the program three-peated, winning its third consecutive national title and making history as the first NJCAA women's soccer division III team to ever accomplish such a task. Coach Amundson was named Regional Coach of the Year for the 2013, 2014, and 2015 seasons.

In 2015, Amundson was selected as the recipient of the NISOA-NSCAA Intercollegiate Merit Award for NJCAA coaches and was also named NSCAA National Coach of the Year.

On October 21, 2017, Amundson notched her 100th career win against Ocean County College in the first round of the Region XIX tournament.

In 2019, the Jersey Blues women's soccer coaching staff was named, United Soccer Coaches Regional Staff of the Year.

In 2022, Amundson received the Outstanding Administrator Award at Brookdale.

Amundson currently resides in Barnegat, NJ with her husband and two children.
