Lincroft, NJ - 2010 Brookdale graduate to current doctor, former cross country standout, Dr. Alec Moran, shares the effect that Brookdale had on him as a student-athlete and in his current life.

"I began my Brookdale journey seeking a community. I am grateful beyond measure for being part of the inaugural year of the cross-country team. My coach at the time taught the value of hard work and friendship that has had a lasting effect on me. And I still love running long distance as a result of my experiences. I'm now completing my anesthesiology residency at Robert Wood Johnson. It's been a long 12 year journey. The long distance mindset I gained running at Brookdale has surely helped me stay focused and have an outlet to find peace and achieve my goals."

From the Fall of 2009 to the Fall of 2010, team captain, Alec Moran, led the cross country team to 2nd place at the NJCAA Region 19 Tournament and then 6th place overall at the NJCAA Nationals. Moran was recognized as a Distinguished Academic All-American by the NJCAA for maintaining a 4.0 GPA for four consecutive semesters of study while competing. In 2010, Moran was awarded as a Gold Star Athlete at Brookdale's annual Gold Star Awards dinner for maintaining the highest GPA of all male runners.
