Lincroft, NJ - Jaimik Moore, a former student-athlete who posted extraordinary stats as a guard for the Jersey Blues and a member of the 2017-2018, 34-0, NJCAA DIII National Championship men's basketball team, reminisces about his time and experience at Brookdale.
"Brookdale gave me the opportunities, athletically, that I would not of had elsewhere. The coaching staff, especially Coach Cisek, taught me much more than the game of basketball. They taught me how to be disciplined and know that the coaches were there to coach us, and we as student-athletes, were there to learn and grow from it. My first year at Brookdale (2013-2014), was my first time away from home. Athletically, we didn't complete our main goal of winning a national championship, but that year really helped build my confidence.
After seeing a few of my teammates go on to four-year colleges/universities that year, it made me realize, that could be me. After taking a couple years off for personal reasons, I came back in the 2017-18 year. That year was by far one of the best years of my life! Coach Cisek gave me the keys to lead the team to a national championship, and my teammates helped me through the season by telling me, 'You're the guy…lead us to victory…takes us home!'
The 2017-18 team is very special to me because not only did we complete the mission of winning a national championship (34-0), we all keep in touch with each other to this day. Brookdale has given me the opportunity to go to places I'd never thought I'd be able to go. I was able to complete my athletic career and continue my education at New Jersey City University. I left Brookdale with a completely different mindset about how I wanted to live my life, and I truly can't thank the people at BCC who helped me get to where I am now."
In two seasons as a Jersey Blue, the 6'5 guard from Hackensack High School, NJ, appeared in 55 games, posted 954 points, 325 rebounds, 184 assists, 99 steals, and shot over 80% from the free throw line. Moore went on to play as a Gothic Knight for New Jersey City University.
