Lincroft, NJ - After being on the road for the last two weeks, the Brookdale men's soccer team were happy to be home and collect a win. Brookdale won 3-0 over the Drew University (JV) Rangers to improve their overall record to 3-2-1.
The Blues displayed their excitement on the field with their quick, out-of-the-gate play, managing to grab the first goal within the first 20 minutes of the game. Sophomore defender, Janson Munoz, gathered a pass on the outside flank, then played a beautiful 30 yard diagonal ball to sophomore forward, Ryan Gannon, who poked it home for his 2nd goal of the season. Minutes later, sophomore forward, Liam Stewart, outpaced Drew's back line to cut in front of the defender, drawing a penalty kick, and buried it himself for a 2-0 Blues lead.
Two minutes shy of the first half, the Blues nabbed their 3rd goal when freshman defender, Edson Gomez, set up a pass behind the Drew defense for sophomore forward, Mubashshir Atcha, to put the ball just passed the keeper for the third and final goal of the entire game. Also to note that sophomore goalie, Matti Tenhunen, earned his second shut-out of the season with the win.
Brookdale is back on the road to Paramus, NJ, to play the Bergen Community College Bulldogs on Tuesday, September 20th, with a 4:00pm start time.
